What NOT to store in the attic or basement

attic storageAttics and basements are tricky.  They can get really hot and really cold. Remember that many items you might consider storing won’t be able to survive in the attic or the basement.

Dishes, pottery, most holiday decorations, legos and most clothes CAN be stored in the attic. Delicate fabrics cannot. Fur and leather cannot.  Fine linens will fare badly-that includes sentimental baby delicate baby clothing, wedding gowns and prom gowns. Mice and insects enjoy fine linens.  They will fare badly in the basement too because of the humidity.

Furniture, electronics, candles, important papers and photographs do not belong in the attic or basement.

The list isn’t very long is it? Call 2 Haul figures if you haven’t used it in the past year, there is a good chance you don’t need it.  It will end up being someone else’s problem some day. If you have a lot of sentimental things you want to keep in the family, pass them on now to the family members who will treasure them too.  Everything else should go.
